nahin rakhta hai balkay hamari zindagi k mukhtalif pehluon pr
achi khasi raaye zani karta nazar aata hai. Is raaye zani main
nudrat bhia hai jiddat bhi.

بہاول پور کے آسمانِ ادب سے تعلق رکھنے والے جہاں ان گنت ثوابت ہیں وہاں دو تین سیّارے بھی ہیں ۔جنکی چمک دمک بہاول پور تک محدود نہیں بلکہ پوری دنیائے ادب اُنکی ضُو فشانی سے منور ہے ۔ انہی میں سے ایک سیارہ ڈاکٹر شفیق الرحمٰن ہیں ۔ان کا خاندان اگرچہ بہت پہلے ہارون آباد (بہاول نگر) میں آبسا تھا تاہم خود شفیق الرحمٰن فوج میں ڈاکٹر ہونے کی وجہ سے کبھی بہاول نگر نہیں ٹھہرے بلکہ پورا ہندوستان ان کی جولانگاہ بنا رہا۔ ادبیاتسے ڈاکٹر صاحب کا تعلق بہت پُرانا ہے۔ ان کی ادبی تخلیقات کا دائرہ کم و بیش نصف صدی سے زیادہ پھیلا ہوا ہے ۔ سرکاری ذمہ داریوں سے ان کی زندگی کا یہ پہلو کبھی نہیں دبا۔ وہ بنیادی طور پر افسانہ نگار ہیں ۔انہوں نے بے شمار رومانوی طرز کے افسانے لکھے ہیں ۔ان کے اندازِ بیان میں شگفتگی کے ساتھ ساتھ ہلکا ہلکا مزاح کا رنگ ہے۔ جس سے وہ زندگی کی بعض تلخ حقیقتوں کو بھی اس مزے سے بیان کردیتے ہیں کہ
 پڑھنے والا غم و رنج کا بوجھ بھی مسکراتے مسکراتے اٹھا لیتا ہے۔
